I enjoyed Theodore Roosevelt's account of his Brazilian expedition so much, I couldn't pass up this account of a Yellowstone expedition from one of his frequent companions. Burroughs was an ornithologist; TR was a non-specialized naturalist (among so many other things!), so this tale is filled with birds, wildlife, and life in the wild. There's also a lot of description of TR's boundless energy, broad knowledge, endless curiosity, and warm personal relationships. Burroughs was obviously a huge fan of TR, so there's a bit much "you won't believe how great this guy is," but the book gives a perspective on TR that he doesn't give to himself. It's a short read, and I enjoyed it as another bit of forgotten American history.

This book gives you some insights into the life of president teddy Roosevelt.
pretty good.
As a great fan of Theodore Roosevelt, here Burroughs gives us a great peek into the personality and charisma of Roosevelt. I enjoyed this quick read very much.
Burroughs and TR were giants in the turn of the century environmental movement. This a wonderful account of the relationship and the problems of the time.
This book gives a really good description of Theodore Roosevelt, his actions and personality. It shows how expert he was at bird watching and how fearless he was. This was while he was president and traveling with John Burroughs the bird expert. It describes also the landscape of Yellowstone.
Very interesting reading. Good insight to president Roosevelt's love and knowledge of nature.
This is a very interesting narrative of the authors travels with President Teddy Roosevelt to Yellowstone NP. He provides an interesting introspective of Roosevelt, his passion and respect for the citizenry, his motivations and love/respect for the outdoors.
